A Vacation in Review
Anyone else feel like this after vacation?!?
Or, maybe you’ve had this thought after returning from what was intended to be a relaxing getaway... “I need a vacation to recover from my vacation!”
Well, I can tell you one thing, we are exhausted! But, if I am being honest, which I do always tend to be, I was a weee bit more exhausted than our trusty Dr. Scott! And, I don’t think it takes a genius or a doctor to know why. As most of you know, leading up to this most magical vacation both Dr. Scott and I were eating super healthy. In fact, primarily we were both eating paleo, with a few exceptions prior to the trip. Let me tell you folks, I let loose a little…ok, a lot on this trip. I took it upon myself to eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, including, but not limited to, root beer floats at 9 am! I’m not pointing any fingers, but AHEM…cough, cough, Lisa Persuitti, cough, cough... see photo evidence below.
Your favorite doctor on the other hand, not so much, he had much it much more in control. Eating things like Kind and protein bars, taking advantage of the kitchen we had, eating eggs, sausages and Organo Gold Coffee every morning. He was ensuring he was fueled and ready for the day. He wasn’t going to have a sugar crash mid-morning, like someone else might have!
irresponsible vacationing folks, I know better. I know when you eat right you feel right, I know these things, so why do we all seem to do these sorts for crazy things on vacation? And, how can we prevent them? No one wants to dip into a sugar hangover when they come back from a vacation. This week I am going to give you my insight on what I could have done better and some helpful tips and tricks I’ve come up with. Then we will see what Dr. Scott has to say! So, below are a few suggestions from yours truly!
1. Eat Your Protein and Eat It Early! - Staying somewhere you have access to a kitchen can not only save you money, but it can help you get at least one healthy meal in a day.
2. Mix in a Salad – Seriously, we ate at a dozen restaurants, would it have killed me to get a salad at one of those meals? Instead of the bacon cheese burger for lunch and another one for dinner (Yes, I did that one day!).
3. Water! Water! Water! – Specifically at Disney World, this could not be easier. They have drinking fountains and water bottle fill stations everywhere. Yet, I completely failed to hydrate one day and my body punished me heavily for it.
4. Sit and Stay a Little -Try not to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of a fun-fill jam-packed vacation! You have time to sit an extra 10 minutes and put your feet up. Trust me, your body will thank you for it later!
Ok, Dr. Scott, those are my ideas for keeping yourself healthy on vacation, what else you got? Any other tips or tricks so next time your wife is better behaved on vacation?! #whoop
